Summer Reading Programs for Kids 2015

SummerReading

Woohoo! It’s the last day of school today! As soon as the girls get home we will sit down and make up our summer bucket list. Sure to be at the top: summer reading programs! My girls already love to read but the programs below make it extra fun for them. In addition to the ones I mentioned, don’t forget to check out your local library. Ours does a fantastic program every year that includes activities as well as reading goals.

Summer reading programs for 2015!

Scholastic: The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge™ is a free online reading program for children. Schools can earn visit from authors and kids can enter to win weekly prizes. As their minutes are logged, they can also unlock stories. There are resources for parents too including free book lists, activities, and tips.

Barnes and Nobles: Barnes & Noble’s summer reading program is always one of our favorites. It’s so simple! Read eight books, bring back your log, and earn a free book. They have choices from 1st to 6th grade in English and Spanish. Regional chains Half Price Books and Books A Million have summer reading programs as well!

Chuck E Cheese: Right now Chuck E Cheese has fabulous in store reading events to kick off summer. The “I Can Read: Reading With Chuck E.” events happen every Tuesday at 6pm through the end of June. In addition, Chuck E. Cheese’s wants to reward young bookworms for reading everyday by providing 10 free tokens to guests that keep track of their reading through the Reading Rewards Calendar, which can be downloaded from chuckecheese.com/activities. Once the calendar is full, guests can bring the print out in store to redeem their prize.book program. Plus you can print off this certificate for ten more free tokens with food purchase.

TD Bank: TD Bank ups the reward to cold hard cash, well in deposit form. Have your child read 10 books this summer. Then print out the Summer Reading Form and write down the names of the books they’ve read. Take the form to the nearest TD Bank and receive $10 in a new or existing Young Saver account
