Spring Fashion : Natural Elements

Spring Fashion

It’s supposed to snow in Columbia tomorrow, but I am in sunny Texas where Spring has definitely sprung.
Even though I usually don’t follow any trends, the Spring weather does make me want to switch up my wardrobe into lighter, simpler, natural pieces. Which is right on trend this year!

Sure you’ve got pop art and black mesh, but overall the trends are about solid colors and natural fabrics. Which makes for wearable outfits for real people like you and me.

Some of the pieces I am incorporating into my Spring wardrobe…

Khaki: I love the clean look of khaki, especially when mixed with crisp navy and white. Unfortunately, it looks awful on me. That’s why I am obsessed with the wood watch Jord sent me. It’s a spot of khaki and the wood makes it a lighter neutral.

Denim: Another natural neutral I adore is denim. It truly does go with anything and can be dressed up or down. There are amazing denim jumpsuits out this year (and jumpsuits are very in) but I still love jean dresses. They are perfect with a cardigan, or even light tights, for Spring. My other favorite Spring staple… the jean jacket. Grab a light wash one and you can wear it through Summer.

Bold reds: Red is back for Spring. And while I think the fashion editors are talking about bright red clothes, I prefer to bring it in a bit more subtly with a red lip. Tarte, listed on my green makeup choices post, makes a lip luster that gives you bright color with a lighter touch that is perfect for the a more streamlined Spring look.

White Lace: Lace screams Spring to me. And I love it in white. Luckily, so does every designer out there so your favorite stores are awash in white cotton lace dresses. But if you can’t find one, this option from Zappos is perfect for a natural day look or one that can be dressed up for night…

  1. I really love that lace dress. I need to find something with lace like that for the warmer months!
