Big Country by U.S. Cellular

This is a sponsored post in partnership with U.S. Cellular.

Can you believe that tomorrow is August 1st? Where did summer go? We’ve been soaking up the last days of sun and swim but like most every other parent in America, I am totally looking forward to school starting back up in a couple of weeks.

One of the reasons is that I will finally have the time to write about our Epic Road Trip 2015 where we did twelve states in fourteen days. It was CRAZY but awesome. I love taking the twins on these kinds of trips, exposing them to the rest of the country. It’s just so cool to be able to share experiences like sailing past the Statue of Liberty and eating crabs fresh from the dock in Maryland with them.

I absolutely loved sharing the trip with friends and family on Instagram. (Check out all the pictures at We were able to do it from Missouri to Maryland because U.S. Cellular delivers national coverage from coast to coast to the middle of anywhere across this Big Country. We’re not alone in our sharing. Most American travelers (81 percent) share photos of their vacations, with Facebook (57 percent) serving as the top place to post.

Did you know that millions of Americans have never traveled or left the state they grew up in? I feel so fortunate that we are able to do this for the girls. After all many dream of taking a special trip, but lack the time or opportunity to do so. In fact, a recent travel survey conducted by U.S. Cellular found that about one in three Americans (30 percent) have never traveled across the country.

If you are a travel lover too, you have to check out U.S. Cellular’s new five-part digital series, “Big Country”, that gives five deserving U.S. Cellular customers the opportunity to break away from their hometown and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience with award-winning television personality, chef and food writer Andrew Zimmern.

This summer, U.S. Cellular, a wireless carrier offering national network coverage, is teaming up with award-winning television personality, chef and food writer, Andrew Zimmern, to premiere “Big Country,” a five-episode digital series where the mobile carrier and Zimmern find deserving customers from across the U.S. and take them to places they’ve always wanted to visit, including New York City, Portland, Maine, Bend, Ore. and San Francisco.

First of all, I hate these people. Because how awesome is that? Really getting to delve into the destination through my favorite medium of food plus cool local experiences.

But even though I am green with jealousy, I can’t wait to watch all the episodes. “Big Country” began airing July 20 online at, as well as on, and Edited vignettes will air on Food Network and Travel Channel.

U.S. Cellular developed the series with Scripps Networks Interactive and Zimmern to allow customers to experience amazing sights and tastes around the country. Participants were selected via nominations from friends and family encouraging them to enjoy the travel experience. Their stories include overcoming the fear of flying and seeing the New York City skyline via a helicopter tour.

U.S. Cellular is searching for one more hopeful explorer to star in the fifth and final episode of “Big Country.” You can apply or nominate others (me) HERE, now until August 10 for the opportunity to travel with Andrew Zimmern, backed by U.S. Cellular’s nationwide wireless coverage. This unique opportunity is only for U.S. Cellular customers.
